Bad Day on the Farm

Posted by

Well, temps were down to about 17° this week. Propane heater pilot light went out. No heat. Greenhouse went cold. Down to about 28°. Bad news. May have lost the entire crop of chili plants; one was our original Bhut Jolokia that is four years old.

Possible that the core of (some of) the plants are OK and will bud out. Maybe. Maybe not. Will tend the plants and hope for the best. If the plants are lost, it will be August before we have good production again.

Greenhouse is an experiment to see if we can get year round production. Lesson learned ... have backup heat. Maybe even a backup to the backup. We've got backup now. Hope it's not too late.

Bad day on the Farm.
